Inspired by our Foundress Mother Veronica and urged on by Mother Marie des Anges our first Superior General ‘we shall keep looking ahead with a clear vision for the future’, for standards of excellence in our educational and social apostolate for a holistic development of our students which shall enable them to face the challenges of tomorrow.
The congregation of the Apostolic Carmel was founded in 1886 by Mother Veronica of the Passion in Bayonne, France, and established at Mangalore, India, in 1870. Following the path of the Carmelite Tradition of St. Teresa of Avila and of Mother Veronica the Sisters try to combine in their lives contemplation with apostolic activity according to the needs of the time. The focus of their apostolic service is ‘Christ in His brethren-the church and the world’.
The Congregation tries to fulfil the purpose of its existence through the education of youth in the various schools, colleges, technical training centres, hostels, children’s homes, crèches and schools for the differently abled, established throughout India, Sri Lanka, Kuwait, Bahrain, Pakistan and Africa. It aims at developing the students entrusted to its care into committed people who should be the leaven in their milieu, putting love and meaning into human life and endeavour.
"Education is a shared commitment between dedicated teachers, motivated students and enthusiastic parents with high expectations"
Today the role of a school is not only to pursue academic excellence but also to motivate and empower its students to be lifelong learners, critical thinkers and productive members of a global society.
In every child, there is a world waiting to be explored. We are committed in our mission to inculcate a state of happiness in every harmonious world.
Education is not filling the mind with a lot of facts. We want that education by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded and by which one can stand on one's own feet.
"With the paradigms of education ever changing let's take the arc of history in our hands and build a better and safer tomorrow in imaginative and innovative ways".

Carmel School, started on 21st January 1941, then known as St. Mary’s School in Civil Lines, Gorakhpur, is a Christian English Medium School, affiliated to CISCE Board on 7th August 2005.
Carmel School is administered by the Carmel Sadan Society of U.P. in the Roman Catholic Church. The school is under the religious jurisdiction of the Catholic Bishop of Gorakhpur.
The school aims at the education of the Catholic community around, and extends its service to members of other communities to the extent possible. The school stands for academic excellence, development of skills, and character formation based on the love of God and the service of man as modelled in Jesus Christ, with a view of training citizens for all round development and sincere commitment to God and country.
We want our students to be intellectually well informed morally upright, socially concerned, emotionally balanced and spiritually oriented women who will act as agents of social change in their motherland and in the world of today.
Raised on high we lift our Carmel banner
Rally around, pace the ground together,
All unite to lift our flag on high
And pledge true loyalty this day till we die.
Onward to the goal we go,
Till we reach the far eternal shore,
Carmel’s children all unite
All stand for the right,
All evil forces fight.
Carmel be our beacon light
In this dark and wild tempestuous night
Be our radiant guiding star,
o’er life’s troubled sea.
Till dawns eternity.

Dear God,
You are the Giver of all good things,
I thank you, for the blessing of this new day.
Give me you grace
To live well today,
To know you, a little better,
To do my work, a little more diligently,
To serve my fellowmen, a little more lovingly
Help me,
To make today, a day of progress
To be of help, and an example,
To all whom I meet,
To bring comfort, to those in sorrow,
And strength to those, who are tempted
Strengthen me,
To give courage, to those who are afraid
Guidance to those, who do not know, what to do,
To bring cheer to those, who are discouraged,
And encouragement to those, who are depressed. Amen
Forgive me, O God / for all the wrong things /
which I have done today /
Forgive me for /
Careless work /
Inattentive study /
Wasted time /
Duties shirked /
Failure to listen to my teachers /
Disloyalty to my friends /
Forgive me also for /
Being disobliging /and selfish at times /
Being a bad example / to others /
Help me to show / that I am really sorry /
by doing better tomorrow / and by not
making / the same mistakes again. Amen
Our Father / in heaven / holy be your name
your kingdom come / your will be done /
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today / our daily bread /
forgive us our sins / as we forgive
those who sin against us. /
Do not bring us / to the test /
but deliver us / from evil. Amen
Angel of God / my guardian dear / to whom God’s love / commits me here / ever this day / be at my side / to light and guard / to rule and guide / Our Holy Guardian angels / watch over us and protect us. Amen.
